When I'm building a service order under "schedule", when I schedule a group, I'd like to have them group scheduled at that time like individuals are, without having to go to a separate page to schedule the members of the group.

If I select a person from the drop down list when scheduling, that person becomes an active link, but when I schedule the worship team (listed as a group on the drop down list under "select person") the individuals in that group are not scheduled; I have to go to a separate page and schedule that group separately. I'd like to have established groups scheduled in one step like individuals are.

Hi Dale, thanks for your message...\

So, you're saying that you have:
1. Created a group, which is marked as a group under roles, and is populated with people who have been assigned roles within that group.
2. When you assign this group to a schedule, people in that group are not added to that schedule

Is that correct?

Yes. "Worship Team" shows up in the schedule, but the members of "worship team" are not individually scheduled. I go to a separate page and schedule their roles for the day.

I just tested adding the worship team to the service "TEST" and they were all added successfully.

Either I am not understanding, or perhaps you are doing it incorrectly?

I'm wondering if you are calling the order of service a schedule?

I am calling a service order a schedule. Thanks for bringing that distinction to my attention. I go to the scheduling tab and wind up at the service order page. I pull the Sunday morning service template. I move things around and fill in hymn/songs. From the hymn/songs line I click "choose person" and choose "worship team." The words "worship team" are added to the line. The individuals within the group, "worship team," are not then scheduled. I have to go to "Schedule these roles by date" page and schedule them manually. Which I'm getting fairly proficient at doing.

Here's my question: When I add an individual to the service order through the same process as I've described above, it appears that that person is automatically scheduled for that date (their name appears as a blue hyperlink.) But when I add the group "worship team" to the service order, I have to add the group in a separate step. Is there a way to have all the members of a group scheduled by adding the group to the service order in the same way an individual is scheduled when an individual is added to the service order?

Is that more clear?

Ah, I see, so you prefer to schedule people using the order of service.

I was under the assumption that most times people will schedule groups and individuals many weeks in advance before the order of service is finalized or even considered.

I will give some thought to a solution that will work for you and others who think the way you do.

Thanks Dale! :)

I have just experimented a bit, and have found that when an individual is added to the order of service, they are not automatically added to the schedule as you assumed, so they will not get automatic email confirmations etc.

That's not to say this isn't a desired function-- I think it may be a good idea to integrate that into the order of service, but it currently is not programmed to behave that way. I'm going to start a new suggestion to this effect, which you can vote on if you want.

I have now made it so that the group is a hyperlink to the group itself, the same way individuals were, and I think that is the short-term solution you were looking for.

That does seem to get me to the scheduling page more quickly. Thanks.

And Oh! what joy some planners must have to be able to schedule folks weeks in advance!
